This wiki is an exploration of the critical elements of future society. The overarching intent is to help to unify and integrate the efforts of various individuals and groups aimed at the foresight and development of a future society. This includes futurists, social entrepreneurs, future economists, open source economic developers, community transformers, and more.

The book The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People Are Changing the World, by Paul Ray and Sherry Ruth Anderson, is based on research that shows the U.S. has divided into 3 distinct classes of values: modernist, traditionalist, and cultural creatives. Modernist being the 'get yours' culture of self-interest, the traditionalist being conservative and religious, and cultural creatives being a massive group of people that have created a new values system. According to Ray: "The Cultural Creatives care deeply about ecology and saving the planet, about relationships, peace, social justice, and about self actualization, spirituality and self-expression."

"I'm All Alone"

What's interesting about this is that when they interviewed these cultural creatives each thought there were few or no others like they were. They were basically living is a sea of people just like them, but they still thought they were 'the only ones.' There are millions of people with the same intent and goals that have the fundamental inability to see each other, come together, and unite in their efforts.

Critical Components

There are several components that will emerge in the development of our future global society.

  1. The balance of interests (local, national, global) for concomitant good
  2. Keeping up with exponential increases in change, volatility, and complexity
  3. Integral thinking and action (includes cooperative knowledge working and dialogue)
  4. More accurate and longer-term foresight and future vision
